Diabetes Mellitus

India has an estimated 77 million people with diabetes, which makes it the second most affected country in the world, after China. One in six peoples (17%) in the world with diabetes is from India. The number is projected to grow by 2045 to become 134 million per the International Diabetes Federation.

In 2020, according to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), 463 million people have diabetes in the world out of which, 77 million belong to India. The prevalence of diabetes in the population is 8.9%, according to the IDF. Per the World Health Organization, 2% of all deaths in India are due to diabetes.
