The New Normal = The Same Old
As a company, Jiyyo Innovations has always been a company that has encouraged flexibility in its processes, diversity in its employees, and innovation in its growth. As more and more companies move towards the ‘work from home’ model, we at Jiyyo are working on perfecting what is already a norm in our company.
These days, people are talking about how COVID has changed everything. In the B.C. (Before COVID) era, many companies were either blissfully unaware or considered work from home as something which was done in emergency situations. Many well-known multinationals did not encourage their employees to work from home for various reasons including data privacy. However, COVID and the subsequent lockdown forced them to accept work from home as a viable solution to business continuity.
Jiyyo Innovations on the other hand has always been a forward-looking company. The name ‘innovations’ is not just a name, it is a habit. The founders and the team members have always been living in different parts of India and the world. I, for one, have been living in Chandigarh while Avil Tyagi and Jahid Ali are residents of Nasik in Maharashtra and Dubai respectively. Our team members live in different states like Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttaranchal, etc. Naturally, relocation was never a viable option because we wanted to tap the best talent available in various corners of the country. So, working from home has always been a feasible and profitable option for us.
We are a company that establishes e-clinics in different parts of the country and promotes telemedicine as a long-term option to battle the inadequate doctor to patient ratio in the rural and semi-urban parts of the country. We believe that through the internet connectivity, smartphone technology, and great doctors from all over the country, we can help patients to solve most of their medical issues. Naturally, whether it is about our work or employees, we believe in ‘walking the talk’ and ‘practicing what we preach’.
Nowadays, people often talk about the disadvantages of working from home and how the work-life balance gets affected. But, I like to think differently. To me, working from home translates into the comfort zone of the employee. People tend to work harder and more efficiently when they are in their comfort zone and don’t have to bother about formalities like dressing up (remember Steve Jobs?). It also means saving on travel time and relocation costs.
As a professional, working from home allows me to multi-task and fulfill all my responsibilities without compromising on my work timings. For many of my team members, it is the same. More than a sense of duty, it is our passion and vision of establishing e-clinics in every village and remote corner of India that keeps us awake at night. Yes, some people talk about the much-needed coffee breaks that help in creative thinking but at Jiyyo Innovations that also has been taken care of. Every now and then, we have impromptu meetings where we laugh and talk about different things which helps people to unwind and connect better. In these meetings, many people have even learned to make perfect coffees!
In the P.C. (Post COVID) era, whether it is about work or shopping or about health, life will never be the same again. These changes are here to stay. I am very proud to say that we have been able to not only foresee and incorporate these changes well before time but also have experienced their positive impact in our continuing growth whether in terms of our team members or e-clinics.
